End User Experience - How do I use the 3D/AR Universal Link?

Requirements:

What is a Universal Link?

Ocavu Portal provides universal links for each model in your account. These links can be opened on virtually any platform:

  • Desktops and Laptops (Windows/Mac/Linux)
  • Smartphones (iOS/Android)
  • Internet Browsers (Chrome/Firefox/Safari/IE11)

When the link is loaded, it will launch the best 3D or Augmented Reality experience available for that particular platform:

AR Capable Browser 3D Capable Browser
AR Capable iOS Device AR via QuickLook 3D via WebGL
AR Capable Android Device AR via SceneViewer 3D via WebGL
3D Capable Device 3D via WebGL 3D via WebGL

After the 3D/AR experience is exited, the page will attempt to self close (if the universal link was opened from another website). If the universal link was accessed directly, it will remain open and display the public details of the 3D model:

  • Name
  • Description
  • Preview Image
  • Product Page Link

NOTE: The Universal Link opens on a domain managed by Ocavu (view.ocavu.com) It is generally recommended to use the Ocavu Web SDK to install the 3D/AR feature on your website. This enables the ideal user experience, which keeps your users on your website.

Where do I find the Universal Link?

  1. Navigate to Ocavu Portal.
  2. Select the desired model.
  3. Click the "Share" action from the context menu, dropdown, or toolbar.
  4. A dialog will appear that contains that model's Universal Link, as well as a QR code of that Universal Link.
